Our old pallet jack gave up on us, thinking of going bigger this time
We had a situation last Thursday where our trusty old 2 ton jack just refused to lift a loaded pallet of ceramic tiles, and the whole thing came down with a bang right in front of the customer. Embarrassing to say the least. So now I am in the market for something stronger and a few people have told me to look at hydraulic units since they hold up better when you are lifting near max capacity regularly. Our yard in Al Quoz deals with a lot of heavy building material and I am tired of playing it safe with weight limits. Thinking of going for a hydraulic pallet truck 5 ton so we can stop worrying about overload situations altogether. But I have never owned a hydraulic one before, always used the standard manual pump type, so I am not sure what maintenance looks like or if they need special oil changes. Also does the 550mm fork width work with the wooden pallets we get from local suppliers here or are those sized differently? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made the switch, especially if you are using it outdoors on rough ground because our yard is not exactly smooth concrete everywhere.
