I bought my 2014 Infiniti QX80 mainly because I wanted AWD for the family trips to the desert and the mountains, and I have never regretted it until this month. Now I am starting to wonder if all that extra machinery under the car is going to cost me a lot later. Here is what happened. Last week, when I was driving slowly and turning the wheel all the way, the car made a tight, bumpy feeling, like the wheels were fighting each other. Then on the highway I heard a low humming from the middle of the car that was not there before. Yesterday, I also saw a small light flash on the dashboard for a few seconds and then disappear. My brother in law said it could be the tyres, because I have two newer ones in the front and two older ones in the back, and he says that can confuse AWD cars. A friend at work said it sounds more like something called the transfer case, which I only knew from off road videos. I looked online and found a page on infinitiservicemussafah.ae that explained it sends power from the gearbox to the front and rear wheels, and that old oil or a worn part inside can cause humming and shaking. It was written in a way I could understand, which helped. Because the car is still under my family’s daily use, I started looking at Premium Infiniti transfer case repair in Musaffah and comparing it with just changing the oil and tyres first, since that is cheaper. My questions are these. Can mismatched tyres really cause this kind of noise, or is that just an excuse people use? Is the oil in the transfer case something you change on a schedule, and did anyone here skip it for years like I did? If the part inside is damaged, do they fix it or replace the whole thing? And how long does that job usually take, because I do not want to be without a car for a week. Thanks for any honest advice, even if the answer is something simple.
